7-Zip

7-Zip is a compressor with a high compression ratio.

7-Zip supports the following formats to compress and decompress: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR. It supports the following formats for decompression: RAR, CAB, ISO, ARJ, LZH, CHM, Z, CPIO, RPM, DEB and NSIS.

For ZIP and GZIP formats the compression ratio is between 2 and 10% better than that of PKZip and WinZip. You can also make self-extracting archives with format 7z. 7-Zip is a powerful file explorer with which you can work from the command line.
