Others like Glest come from a group of friends' enthusiasm and have become one of the most attractive entertainment proposals.

As we mentioned, Glest is nothing more than a real-time strategy game created by a group of fans, which has undoubtedly become one of the users' favorites over time. What is most striking about this title, as it could not be otherwise, is that it has an entirely different graphic engine from what we are used to seeing.

How it works

It is fair to point out before we continue analyzing all the details related to Glest that this game does not reach the graphic definition of those generated from the disposition of billions of dollars, but it is not bad at all. We made this introduction so that you know a little more about its origins and thus value it better, but indeed without it, you would not have noticed the difference with another game.

As far as Glest's entertainment proposal is concerned, we should point out that this is a title in which two differentiated factions will confront each other since, on the one hand, we have the Tech, and on the other, the Magic. The latter, as their name indicates, make use of magic to obtain all their objectives, while the former are the ones that prefer machines, bladed weapons, and brute force.

In the first instance, you will have to decide which of the two sides you want to belong to, although later, the development of the action being in one or the other has some marked similarities. To give you an idea, it is mainly about moving through the different scenarios, raising and controlling different buildings and units, and troops to obtain the necessary strength to defeat our enemies.

Something that we liked about Glest in this first approach to the game is that the amount and variety of scenarios are significant, to the point that you will hardly find yourself twice in the same point of action. Thus, it's interesting to note that you'll be able to see from dense forests to enormous open areas in which snow predominates, each offering its characteristics for battle.

In Glest, you'll notice that practically everything that happens has to do with your decisions since you'll be able to customize most of the game's aspects, and we're talking about both buildings and improvements for your troops. But you can also configure the contextual elements of the title to your liking, such as the music that will play while you play so that it adapts to your preferences.

Apart from this, Glest has a vital social community, thanks to which you'll find a series of Forums in which you can talk about the game, learn about the latest news, etc., as well as a Wiki-style section, in which you'll find an enormous amount of documentation about the game and its engine.

As for the graphics of Glest, we had specified before that it is a unique engine specially developed for this title, and the truth is that it is very well achieved, to the point that it has nothing to envy other more famous games.

One last thing we didn't want to leave unmentioned about Glest is that it is not one game that requires a powerful computer to run smoothly. You can install it on any old PC that will run smoothly, allowing you to transform that computer that you may no longer use into a machine more than enough for your entertainment sessions.

Among the many positive qualities of Glest, we decided to highlight the fact that it can run on any computer, even if it is a bit underpowered, besides the fact that it is an entirely different title from the others. Also, selecting which of the two sides we belong to is a distinctive point compared to others.

The worst

Glest has no significant weaknesses, especially if, again, we consider that this is a game developed by fans. The truth is that there are no tremendous criticisms to make.
