Password Safe allows us to create a database to store passwords that we use regularly.

Our day-to-day is surrounded by passwords and security codes: credit cards, mobile phone PIN codes, Windows logon, social networks accounts, etc. All of these passwords must be stored safely somewhere. Notepads and post-it do not count as safe methods of password storage.
We must have a tool that can store all our pass keys, both Online and Offline, and do so safely and effectively.

Password Safe will create an encrypted file (database) on the hard drive to protect all the passwords we decide to save. In addition, when we use the program, all the passwords shown by the program will be encrypted in memory so that all the passwords will be protected from possible attacks.
Thanks to this software, we will be able to save, without any worry, our access credentials (username and password) of all the websites that we visit regularly.
In this way, we will avoid anyone can discover our passwords or losing by accident the notepad where we had all of our access keys.
In addition, we will be able to enter our credentials on any web page in a simple way because we only need to choose the entry we want to use and press Control+T (or right-click - >” Perform Auto-type ”).

The first time we open the program, we will have to press the “ New ” button to create a new database with a password, choose the location, and enter the file name that will store all of our passwords. The program will prompt you for a “master key” to protect the file.
It's important to choose a strong password to protect this file. A good password includes upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters (_*⁺$...). If we choose a weak password, the program will alert us about the weak password.

Therefore, the only password that we must remember is the master key that we use in the file that store all our passwords.
If we have a Yubikey, we can use it to configure it as the “master key” in our password database. This way, we should press Yubikey to access the program and all our secret keys.

All the buttons on the top bar have context-sensitive help, we should move the mouse cursor over any button, and a dialog will appear with information about that button.

If we don't have our passwords stored in digital format, we can add new entries to our passwords database by clicking on the button “ Add new entry.”

When we add a new entry, we should select a group for that entry. We can create groups according to our needs, for example, Banks, Online Shopping, Forums, Social Networks, etc.
We can create sub-groups, so all our passwords will be well-organized and easily traceable.
We must enter a title to identify the entry. We must also enter the username and password.
The program can generate strong passwords. If we use this option, our passwords for access to Internet sites will always be safe and solid. We can configure the “strength” of the auto-generated passwords to generate practically unbreakable passwords.

If we have a file with saved passwords, we can import it using the option “ File->Import.” We can import .xml files, CSV files, or KeePass V1 files.

The program automatically creates database backups, so if we accidentally delete an entry from the database, we can open a backup and retrieve the entry.

The software can be installed on the computer's hard disk or used as portable software, that is to say, without installing it.
If we are going to use the program frequently, we need to check the “ Normal ” option in the installation process.
If we want to use this soft as portable, we must select the “ Green ” option.

The software is open source and free; we can install it for personal or professional use without restrictions.
