As we said, Split Byte is an utterly versatile platform, thanks to which we will be able, on the one hand, to split the contents of those files that are too heavy and, on the other, join their parts in case we have received them divided. This is useful in many cases, but especially if we intend to send or upload those contents, as we often encounter annoying limits that only go away when we pay.

How it works

One of the things we liked the most about Split Byte is that if we want to split a large file into several equal parts, we can determine precisely the maximum size each of these parts should have. If your email client or online storage service has a specific limit, you can bypass the limit without much hassle.

Then, in case the person who has used Split Byte to split this content is the person who sent it to you, and you have received the parts separately, you should know that this program will also allow you to merge all those parts in seconds. This is an ideal solution when downloading movies uploaded in parts to avoid copyright complications, and we can still watch them in one go.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that thanks to Split Byte, we can set a password for the different parts of the file that we have split so that no third party who does not know it can access the contents. This encryption is one of the main differences we have found between this software and other similar ones, and you should not fail to take advantage of it.

As if all of the above were not enough, Split Byte has a successful file-splitting verification system, so that when you have finished splitting them and before sending them, you will be able to check that the process has not suffered any problems. Split Byte's user interface stands out much more for how well achieved the organization of the elements is than for its aesthetic section, so let's focus on it. The best thing is that adding files to split or merge them is simple, and we will not lose sight of the main menus at the top of the screen.

Keep in mind

Split Byte is available in English at first, although, as you can see in the images accompanying the review, it is possible to select other languages. Anyway, you have to know that in our experience of use, we have noticed that the translation is far from perfect, so you should not be surprised by the appearance of errors.

The best

We especially liked some features of Split Byte, such as the fact that you can set a maximum weight or size for each of the parts that make up a file, making it easier to send later. On the other hand, it should not be forgotten that not all software in this category allows you to add a security password, so we thank its developers for taking the trouble.

The worst

We have already mentioned it before, but we consider that two aspects of Split Byte can be pointed out as the weakest of this application. In the first instance, we are talking about the translations that are close to being wrong and leading us to use them in English to avoid problems. Secondly, although functionally, the design helps aesthetically, it is somewhat obsolete compared to similar programs.

In summary, if you don't mind too much having to use it in English, nor are you demanding in visual terms with your applications, you will find Split Byte an exciting help when splitting files and joining their parts back together.
