Review Temple Run
One Sentence Summary: Imangi Studios' "Temple Run" is an adrenaline-pumping android game that will take you on a wild, dizzying dash through the heart of a cursed jungle temple, but beware - you might find yourself caught in an inexplicable web of ads!
Welcome to Temple Run, an addictive and thrilling game that doesn't require us to fight enemies or score goals…but run and keep running. The name says it all. Our heroic avatar steals a sacred idol from an ancient temple tucked away in the woods; no sooner has the treasure exchanged hands when evil demon monkeys start nipping at your heels!
It's survival of the fittest as you sprint down narrow, crumbly temple walls or jink along perilous cliffs overlooking vast valleys. With every slide to dodge obstacles or jump over gaping pits, this game tests the quicksilver mettle lounging inside you. Collect coins sprinkled across your runway and earn power-ups; earn enough gold for resurrection powers at the stat store or unlock sassy characters so you get a fresh kick every time!
Everyone from SlideToPlay.com to TheAppera.com seems convinced about Temple Run's unique charm with unwavering confidence. TouchArcade Forums went ahead, calling it Game of the Week while it earned itself among TouchArcade's Best Games of the Month.
However, like any other thing under the sun (or above Earth), there are places where Temple Run could do better.
Although an overwhelming quantity swears upon its exhilarating gameplay, as we have understood from a gigantic number of folks who downloaded it and a lovable but humongous amount who rated it just shy of perfect five stars, a good chunk of them also left constructive reviews expressing their passion for improvements!
Among user complaints, one vastly shared grudge revolves around intrusive advertisements marring otherwise dynamic gameplay experience by popping up after every failed run attempt. Similarly, some players complain about a glitch: despite completing rounds (and watching ads), the game fails to save progress and resurrects the runner from the start line. Finesse in these areas would definitely improve user experience.
A few other discussed issues include sometimes unresponsive controls, repetitive gameplay, or occasionally freezing screens on certain devices that require repeated uninstallation and reinstallation of the game!
Surprisingly enough, frustrated users pleaded for an option to remove advertisements, possibly via in-app purchases, but alas, it doesn't appear possible at this time.
If you’re still with me, let's whip up a quick summary.
Pros:
- Heart-pounding gameplay: Engage reflexes like never before as your swift character dodges ceaseless danger.
- Power-ups & Collectibles: Indulge in a shopping spree with ancient coins to grab power-ups for a competitive edge or unlock quirky runners!
- Global love: Its unmistakable popularity around the world assures one isn't alone caught up in feverish Temple Runs at odd hours!
Cons:
- Ad here, ad there…advertisements everywhere! Players often find themselves 'dodging' unsolicited advertisements popping up mid-game.
- Technical Glitches: The game freezes or progresses; failing to save after runs march players down frustration avenue.
In closing thoughts, while "Temple Run" is an adrenaline-fueled ride through a heart-thumping adventure that manages complex yet enjoyable gameplay mechanics with pure wizardry, it does stumble over its own shoelaces now and again when handing formidable technical glitches surface or intrusive advertisements parade across the finish lines uninvited!
But as Victorian writer Samuel Smiles famously wrote- "We learn wisdom from failure much more than success." Therefore, there's always hope for our beloved Temple Run to turn the tables and make a victorious run once again!
