Review Warsow
Are you a fan of Quake III? Then you probably know that from that title, a vast number of other games have emerged, somehow based on it, and among them, Warsow is undoubtedly one of the best we can install on our PC. We are talking, as it could not be otherwise, of a game that bets on first-person action and shooting without needing too demanding requirements for your computer.
As we mentioned, Warsow is a first-person action game, a shooter that also includes an online mode. It stands out because the action is more permanent than similar titles. Needless to say that the features have a lot to do with Quake III, as mentioned above, so if you are looking for an entertainment proposal that moves away from it, you will have to do it somewhere else.
Operation
The first thing that has caught our attention in our experience of using Warsow is the massive amount of weapons we can count on, with several very different options available between them, from rocket launchers to traditional shotguns. Not only that, but during the game, we will also have access to something they have called power-ups, which, as the name suggests, multiplies the damage these weapons can do.
But of course, not all the objects we will find when we move through the scenarios are aimed at destroying the enemy, but there are also some oriented to their recovery, as in the case of armor or health kits. As we said, in each battlefield, we will find these elements with which we can interact, although it is convenient that you are quick to use them because otherwise, you will represent an easy target.
The game's objective is to kill as many enemies as possible through the different scenarios you have to go through, so your aim and ability to attack at the right time will be equally important. Then, as you get rid of the opponents who want to finish you, you will earn points.
The amount of movements available in Warsow is also striking, considering that we will not only be able to move around but also jump, dodge different obstacles that have been put in our way, climb walls, etc. As you can see, we have almost no impediments when trying to reach a certain point on the map.
Warsow has a good variety of game modes, something basic so that the fun doesn't end quickly. We would expect many modes from a game of this type, such as duel, Deathmatch,Capture the flag , etc. We always find it essential to have several game variants because that helps when we have tired of one; we move on to the other instead of abandoning it.
As for the graphics of Warsow, we must say that many players of this release are right to mention the certain resemblance it has with another title that is not Quake III. We are talking specifically about the case of Team Fortress II. You can see that the aesthetic is close to that of cartoons, which transforms it into a somewhat less traditional game than we might expect. We liked this idea a lot.
This particularity also makes Warsow a game somewhat more recommended for young people, considering that during the games, we will not be seeing blood or dismembered bodies, which could give a little impression. On the contrary, in tune with the general graphics of the title, blood is represented with red stars.
The best
What did we like most about Warsow? Especially the impossibility of the action repeating itself, considering the variety of weapons, scenarios, and game modes, means that we all the time discover new situations and have to re-plan strategies to eliminate our enemies.
The Worst
Although Warsow has not shown us salient flaws in our experience of use, indeed, it is not a game that demonstrates many features we have not seen before. In this sense, being based on Quake III and adding a graphic section that reminds us of other titles does not do it a favor. However, if you liked that installment, here is one of its more accomplished distant cousins.
Rating
Warsow is one of our favorite first-person shooters among the heirs of Quake III, one that takes enough elements from that title and some from others to offer a platformer that is as colorful as it is entertaining. It is probably the game based on that title that is most advisable for those gamers who like frenetic action and graphics that tend to be more animated than imitating the real thing.
