The software emesene is an open-source instant messaging client that aims to provide simple and easy-to-use functionality for Microsoft's messaging service, .NET Messenger Service. It supports various instant messaging networks like MSN and Jabber through papyon and xmppy, allowing users to connect to different services like Windows Live Messenger, GTalk, and Facebook Chat. The software comes with features such as custom emoticons, file transfer, offline messaging, webcam chat support, plug-ins like YouTube and Last.fm, multilingual GUI as well as customizable themes and sounds. Although emesene was initially designed for MSN clients only but it also offers support for Google Talk and Facebook sessions by installing python-XMPP. However, this software does not have webcam support in the MSN protocol.
