SpamBayes was an open-source anti-spam filtering software that used a statistical approach based on the work of Paul Graham. It could be integrated into email clients like Microsoft Outlook or used as a POP3/IMAP mail filter. SpamBayes worked by analyzing incoming messages and assigning them a classification of "spam," "not spam," or "uncertain" based on the user's training. It extracted clues from message content to arrive at this classification, and calculating a spamness score. The project discontinued in 2010 and is no longer being updated, but it is still available for download and use with some email clients. It offered an easy-to-use training interface to teach the software about new types of spam, which made it more suitable for fighting spam and users with specific detection needs. View More
