Zmanda Windows Client is a backup and recovery tool designed specifically for Windows platforms. It uses the native Win32 API and Volume Shadow Service (VSS) to back up data. The software offers open file backups, NTFS file system backup, and uses an open format for backup images in ZIP64. It also includes a configuration tool that allows modifying ports used and Amanda server name. The client is compatible with various versions of Windows, such as XP Pro, Vista, 7, 8,10 among others but has some limitations like only supporting bsdtcp authentication and using only specific ports. The installation process involves running an installer based on Installshield and then adding the newly installed Windows client to the Amanda server by defining dump types in amanda.conf configuration file of Amanda server.
